"Combination of naturalistic elements creating new and original art forms"

My entry into professional photography came via the somewhat unusual route as a student studying a course in low temperature physics at the Clarendon laboratory Oxford, in which part of the course work covered techniques for filming neutron bombardment of atoms.

Although fascinating in itself, this offered little creative opportunity to explore the imaginative use of the even then rapidly developing photo technology and I concluded that my future career development and satisfaction lay in the broader commercial photographic areas.

During the early period of my career move, I was fortunate in working with a number of commercial/portrait studios in London while attending part-time photographic studies at college. These photographers were willing to pass on their knowledge and experience, in a traditional apprenticeship situation and professional ethics. These standards I have tried to retain though-out my career and hopefully passed on to my assistants over the years.

Subsequent years have been devoted to broadening my horizons, establishing my own studio base and achieving awareness in developing my own style. A client base over the years covers commissions for Benneton, 3M, Marks & Spencers, Land Rover, British Aerospace and Kodak.

Publisher commissions in the fine art poster/book area bought the freedom to seek further artistic satisfaction for example, exploring the concepts of the human form reflected in nature. Here, my objective has always been to follow instinctive reaction creating images in sympathy with the natural world. Awards from industry, institutes and exhibitions both within the UK and throughout Europe.
